As the time has finally come to change my wetsuit, I felt it would be a good moment to write about my experiences with my current suit, a standard, off the shelf 7MM budget suit manufactured by Scubapro.
It has been nothing short of brilliant! The suit has managed to do 234 dives in four years and has rarely had a chance to get completely dry in that time. There are no tears or rips, the zip still works perfectly and it has never let me down in any way. The only things that hint at the excessive wear are the fact that it has now faded to a dark grey, and that the suit’s heat retaining properties aren’t as good as they once were, probably due to UV degradation of the neoprene.
It has been a faithful friend and it’s future is assured – I’m going to cut off the arms and legs and use it as a surfing and sailing shortie!
Scubapro have a terrific budget range, but even these products are well made, and do the job they are designed for. Check them out next time you are in the market!
